Mr. Şenver where did you start you career?

I started my career in Arthur Andersen Istanbul and London offices. #5 I worked for 11 years in Arthur Andersen. #6 I worked for Central Bank of Turkey to develop an "Off Site Bank Surveillance System" and an "Early Warning System for Turkish Banks".

Why did you not become a partner in Arthur Andersen?

Well I almost did. #8 I left Arthur Andersen when I was ready to be promoted as a partner. I got a job offer as Assistant General Manager of a bank. After 3 years working as Assistant General Manager I was promoted as a CEO Chief Executive Officer of a big Commercial Bank in Turkey.

You are famous in the business world in Turkey as "master banker". Why do you think people call you that?

#10 People call me "master banker" because I introduced many new, innovative products and services to the Turkish banking system.
#11 Q (4) Where does Ethics come into the picture? Because we are told that you are also called the "ethics man" in Turkey as well.

#12 I established the first Turkish "Ethics Center Association". I am the Honorary Founding Chairman of the organization. I experienced that in every aspect of life acting ethically always wins in the long run.

How did you start lecturing in universities?

#14 I started lecturing in year 1984. I lectured in some 7 different universities teaching Banking, Finance, Accounting and Business Ethics courses.

In addition to your business life and teaching, are there any other organizations that you took part in and like to mention?

#16 Yes, I served for many years in TUSİAD Turkish Business & Industry Association. I became the Chairman of TABA-AmCham Turkish American Chamber of Commerce and acted as Chairman for six years. I also became a member of the Executive Committee of ECACC European Council of American Chambers of Commerce and served as the Treasurer of ECACC. #17 I also established the "Ethics Values Association" and the "Books for Everyone" Foundation in Turkey.
#18 Q (7) What is the main objective of the "Ethical Governance for Global Institutions" course?
#19 Often good people do wrong things institutions. Wrong behaviour results in a loss. Individuals and the companies lose face and are damaged due to unethical practices. In order not to lose millions of dollars, good people in organizations should know how to act ethically.
#20 At the end of this course you will have learnt the skills to be able to institute necessary checkpoints, processes and controls to make your institution ethically correct.
#21 The aim of this course is to make participants learn the ethical issues that arise in the institutions, and to develop an ability to address and resolve these issues effectively and responsibly. The course aims to build "Ethical Decision-Making Framework" for the Entrepreneurs, Managers and Employees. #22 This course will also make the participants communicate effectively and ethically with their shareholders and stakeholders.
